A Note from our Principal
Ngata families,
We are eagerly anticipating tomorrow’s Father’s Day / Special Person’s Day breakfast, beginning at 7:45 AM! This event is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the incredible dads, granddads, uncles, and other special figures who play such a significant role in our lives.
Seeing so many of you gathered to share this special morning fills us with joy. We’re looking forward to the community atmosphere, the laughter and the special moments we’ll create together. Your presence and participation make these events truly memorable.
Thank you for joining us in making this day special. We can’t wait to welcome you all and celebrate the extraordinary people who contribute so much to our lives.
IMPORTANT - I also draw your attention to the change of Term 4 Closure Day date. This school closure day will now be Monday November 11th, it had previously been advertised as Friday October 18th.
Kind regards,
Nick Murrell
Principal

Dumpling Making Workshop.
Last Saturday August 24th, Jun Meredith conducted a dumpling making workshop at St Pius X. Fourteen grade 5/6 students plus parent helpers took part in the workshop learning how to prepare and cook delicious dumplings under Jun's expert guidance.
We would like to sincerely thank Jun for her time and effort in preparing for and running this fun workshop. Jun very kindly donated all the ingredients to make the dumplings and then in turn donated all the proceeds to the school. Thank You Jun!
Carpark Information
Please see the video below with information about pickup time in our carpark works, and what the yellow lines stand for.
It's Toyastic!
This term, the 3/4 students have been learning about the many different materials that are used in our world. Looking at the different properties that they have and why they are used for their intended purpose. Materials that are elastic were looked at in detail and led to our construction activity. In small groups students were asked to research, plan, create and assess a toy - made from at least 2 materials, have an elastic property, be fun and safe. The students collaborated, compromised and problem solved to end up with a finished product! Well done 3/4s!
Community Conversation and Learning Walk
Community Conversation
We are excited to invite you to an upcoming Community Conversation on Thursday September 12th at 6.30pm. This gathering will bring together students, parents, staff, and other key stakeholders to explore what makes St. Pius X such an exceptional place.
Our goal is to identify our core values (what we stand for and want to be known for), celebrate what we do well, and discuss areas where we can improve. Your insights and perspectives are invaluable as we work together to enhance our school environment and ensure we continue to thrive.
Join us for an engaging and constructive dialogue where every voice matters. Your participation will help shape the future of our community and contribute to the ongoing success of St. Pius X.
We look forward to seeing you there and hearing your thoughts!
If you are interested and available to attend - please email Nick principal@spwarrnambool.catholic.edu.au
Learning Walk - Friday September 13th 9.15am-10.15am
What is a Guided Learning Walk for Parents?
It is an invitation to parents to come to the school for a set period of time to be led on a facilitated and structured learning walk of the school/classrooms during the school day. Not to look at the decor - but to learn more about the learning that is happening. The focus of the structured walk is children and their learning as opposed to teachers and the teaching Each learning walk can have a topic or theme. The purpose is more about giving parents an opportunity to witness what the “real” learning looks like. These are also not about a parent sitting in and observing their child...but to learn more about a topic or the school through observing learning in action. Following the Learning Walk, the group would sit down to a more “in depth community conversation” about what they've observed.
Why host Guided Learning Walks?
To create another opportunity to build, improve and strengthen parent engagement in their children’s learning….creating true partners in education and as another step in knocking down the walls that often exist between home and school.
Please RSVP via this link if you would like to attend our upcoming Learning Walk.
Inter-School Basketball Competitions
Last week we were represented by a number of students in both the Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 Inter-School Basketball Competitions. As usual, our students represented St Pius X with an amazing attitude, sportsmanship and encouragement of themselves and others. In both competitions we had a few wins, but more importantly some fantastic stand-out performances and displays of individual skill and fun antics on the court. I was extremely proud of all the students who participated. Thanks to Mr Bacon, Mr Blythe and Bridget for all their great coaching.
Emma McDonald
AFL 9s
Well done to our two AFL 9s teams today. Our girls team did an amazing job winning all their games and will progress to the next round - At truly sensational effort girls!! Our boys team played a player down all day, had no bench time and competed in every game, they played with grit and determination and did our school community proud.
Food bank support
We are excited to propose the launch of a weekly community foodbank to support families within our school. This initiative aims to provide meals to those requiring some assistance, enhancing our strong and compassionate community. We invite you to express your interest in supporting this important cause, this would be in the form of going on a roster to cook/provide a meal. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our fellow community members. Please text Lara on 0423 453 334 if you wish to participate or need more information. Thank you for your continued support and generosity.

Breakfast Club
A friendly reminder that Breakfast Club is running on Wednesday mornings from 8:20am. It is open to ALL students before school to enjoy some yummy toast, yogurt, cereal or a piece of fruit and take part in a morning conversation with others. We look forward to seeing everybody there!
Again, a big thankyou to Foodshare for providing us with breakfast items and Woolies for providing the fruit! Of course, this wouldn't take place without our amazing parent helpers so a big thank you to Sarah & Virginia as well!
